How the blog got its skin
I spent the better part of the day creating the WordPress template you now see from a design that Kimmie sent over this morning. She popped it into our shared Dropbox folder. I asked her to create a custom design for the site because I love what she does. I have worked on many projects with her over the course of the last two years, since we both are freelance members in a collective of knowledge workers known as Soapbxx.
She is one of those talented friends I was talking about in my post the other day. She is able to intake information about a person or organization and gel it with what their goal is for a given project. She then goes into her cave and comes out with something that is truly unique. I’m not an uncreative person by any means, but something that fills me with a jealous rage is the ability that excellent designers have to produce functional visual delights from abstract ideas and a blank slate.
The blank slate scares me. I think that when you start with absolutely nothing, there are just too many choices and too much power that my mind has nothing to fasten on to. It’s why I asked someone else to design the site, and why I’m happy I did.
Feel free to let me know what you think of the look, after a day of looking at it and working it into the WordPress template, I must admit that I love it and that anything you say to try to convince me otherwise will be fruitless. But go ahead and try. Thanks Kimmie.

I share your jealousy, also fear the slate, and dig the design.

Thanks for the dig.
